i ask this every single time another fucked up thing happens on the US/Mexican border, and nobody listens, so that OFFICIALLY makes me one of those intellectuals with spittle in the corner of their mouths that nobody listens one fuck to but i keep talking the fuck any damn way….BUT OH WELL. i’m gonna ask again.
can we PLEASE not divorce the anti-immigrant (or: hyper nationalism) culture on the border in trying to understand why TWO women senators from border states have now been violently attacked in some way? can we notice that little brown girls are being murdered on that same border and their (assumed) reproductive capabilities are being used as justification? (she was just gonna grow up and drop her a few anchors, so good riddance!).
can i muster saying this one more time? YES, YES I CAN. hyper nationalism is all by itself a *project of controlling who gets to be a woman and how those bodies will be used*. There’s a REASON that as anti-immigrant hysteria has ratcheted the fuck up, who is allowed to *control reproduction* has become a site of increasingly intensified violence.
