Spinal Bap: Kim and Thurston yet to decide who will get custody of J Mascis

Kim and Thurston first took Mascis under their wing back in 1986 when Sonic Youth invited Dinosaur Jr to support them for a two-week college tour and have looked after the long-haired troubadour ever since, but is it now uncertain whether custody will be given to Kim, Thurston, or some other third party. Mascis requires much care and attention; he suffers from catatonic lethargy, underdeveloped social skills, and is susceptible to panic attacks when deprived of the colour purple.

…I didn’t even know that Sonic Youth were still “together.” I just assumed everyone was sad about the personal basis of Kim & what’s-his-face splitting.

I will forgive you for not being as invested in me in the only noodly dudely guitar band that matters for perfect use of the term “what’s-his-face”

I can’t count how much “I hope Sonic Youth kick out Kim and keep going” shit I’ve heard

It actually surprised me, what a fool I am. misogyny! alive and well

anyway I have heard rumours that Kim is indeed going to be replaced and I can only hope that said misogyny is causing wishful thinking and this has no basis in reality

From Thurston Moore’s blog, which I can’t link because it’s apparently become a casualty of the recent incredibly depressing news from the Sonic Youth camp. Sigh… I must admit my faith in love has taken a bit of a hit from all this. Regardless, I sure hope everyone involved is doing OK.
